TWO MINUTE DRILL

Two Minute Drill Game

Play a free online football strategy game built on real NFL data. Start with a real game's score, clock, field position and timeouts, then call the plays to lead your own comeback. Simulated outcomes use real play data and season ratings, and your decisions are graded against the available options.

How to play

  1. Read the situation. Down by four with 1:52 left and two timeouts? Each drive starts from a real late game moment from the 2023 to 2026 NFL seasons.
  2. Read the defense. Before every snap you see the defensive look: light box, base, loaded box, blitz or prevent.
  3. Call the play. Run inside or outside, pick a route for every receiver, add play action or a rollout, try an RPO or a trick play, spike it or kick the field goal.
  4. Manage the clock. With the clock running, choose hurry up or huddle, burn a timeout or get out of bounds.
  5. Beat the real coach. When the drive ends you see what really happened in that game, and whether you did better.

A football simulation built on real NFL data

Run and pass outcomes are sampled from real NFL plays using play type, passing depth and direction, defensive look and field position. When samples are limited, the game uses similar situations. Season ratings influence the outcomes, so a great quarterback and a weak secondary matter. Simulated finishes compare your decision with other available calls, helping you learn which choice offered a better chance to win.

How the data and grading work

FAQ

What is the two minute drill game?

A free football strategy game in your browser. You play offensive coordinator for the final minutes of a real NFL game and try to win it with your play calls, your clock management and your timeouts.

What is a two minute drill in football?

The two minute drill is the hurry up offense a team runs near the end of a half when it needs points and has little time. Quick throws, plays toward the sideline, spikes and timeouts are used to move the ball while saving the clock. The name comes from the two minute warning, the automatic stoppage with two minutes left in each half of an NFL game.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account and nothing to download. Your stats and streaks are saved in your browser. You can also submit a nickname and result to the public leaderboard.

Are the plays really real?

The starting situations come from real late game drives from the 2023 to 2026 seasons. Run and pass outcomes use real NFL plays from nflverse and FTN charting data, with approximate matching and adjustments for your situation. Your drive is a simulation built on that data.

How are my play calls graded?

The game compares simulated win chances for your available calls. It first screens the options, then tests the leading choices and your call in more detail. Each call gets a grade: best, close, costly or big miss. Your call score is the average over the drive.

When is a new daily drive available?

Every day at midnight, your local time. You can replay the daily drive as practice, but only your first try counts toward your stats.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The game works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. You can add it to your home screen to open it like an app.

Is this an official NFL game?

No. It is a fan made game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the NFL, its teams or its players.
